LEARN ABOUT AN ETCHING PRESS?
An etching press is used to make original art prints. When creating an art print from an etching; A flat steal bed forms the base of the press, on which the artist will place their zinc, copper, solar or other form of plate which has been etched with a design and has inked rubbed into it. A moist sheet of paper is then laid carefully on top of this, followed by padded layers of felt called a press blanket. This is all then feed under a heavy-pressured steal roller which is cranked often by a hand leaver. The paper is then peeled away and left to dry; later it may be signed, numbered & framed.
